Microsoft is seeking a Critical Environment Program Manager to ensure the optimal operational efficiency and availability of critical environments in leased datacenters. This role involves managing data center operations, overseeing mechanical and electrical equipment, and reducing critical incidents while adhering to safety and security policies. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of industry experience in a datacenter or critical environment facility, or 3+ years of experience with college coursework.
Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with data center business units and service-level policies.
- Manages programs associated with area of responsibility.
- Adheres to budget requirements and keeps costs reasonable.
- Follows and adheres to safety and security policies and procedures.
- Maximizes Critical Environment (CE) availability in conjunction with landlord partners at leased Datacenters.
- Oversees day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in leased Datacenters.
- Reduces high-impact and human-error Critical Environment (CE) incidents.
- Supports delivery of Datacenter’s Emergency Preparedness and Response plans.
- Coordinates, plans, schedules, and supervises CE audits and compliance verification.
- Ensures routine reporting to effectively manage and analyze Power/Temperature/Relative Humidity, and SLA monitoring.
- Establishes and enhances strong working relationships with Engineering Groups (EGs) and Landlord partners.
- Works with regional and global peers to share and build best practices.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2+ year(s) industry experience in a datacenter or other critical environment facility
- OR 3+ years industry experience and college course work.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
- Required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Desired Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS, Generator, AHU)
- Bachelor’s Degree or Technical College certification in mechanical or electrical engineering and/or services
- Experience working on large scale CE projects
- Experience with the operation of IT infrastructure (Servers, SANs, Networking, etc.)
