Qualcomm is seeking a CPU RTL/AI Micro-Architect to advance AI-driven design for high-performance CPUs in the datacenter. This role involves applying and developing AI tools for RTL code review, spec alignment, and debug acceleration, integrating AI into standard development workflows to enhance productivity and deliver cutting-edge silicon.

Responsibilities

  • Apply and extend internal AI tools and agent-based workflows to enhance RTL design productivity.
  • Develop AI-driven capabilities for RTL code review, quality analysis, spec ↔ RTL alignment, and automated debug acceleration.
  • Integrate AI into standard RTL development loops.
  • Enable AI-assisted analysis for timing, power, area (PPA) tradeoffs, microarchitectural bottlenecks, and code-level improvements.
  • Develop mechanisms to surface actionable insights early in the design cycle.
  • Embed AI capabilities into existing toolchains and methodologies (lint, synthesis, simulation, debug).
  • Collaborate with CAD, DV, and global design teams to scale AI-enabled workflows.
  • Contribute to cross-team AI initiatives and working groups.
  • Evolve RTL methodology by integrating AI-assisted best practices into coding standards, review processes, debug, analysis, and documentation.
  • Ensure solutions align with RTL principles of readability, maintainability, and cross-discipline usability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog (or VHDL) RTL design.
  • Experience with simulation, waveform debug, and verification tools.

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge in AI/LLM-based engineering tools, including agentic tools (i.e. Codex, Claude Code) and agent-based AI development (prompting, chaining, orchestration).
  • Knowledge of CPU Design Techniques: logic design principles and timing/power implications, low-power microarchitecture techniques, and high-performance design tradeoffs.
