In short

Qualcomm is looking for a Staff Connectivity Systems Engineer to research, design, and develop next-generation electrical and optical links. This role involves system-level simulations, correlating lab measurements, and collaborating with engineering teams to create advanced connectivity solutions for AI and infrastructure computing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform numerical and analytical modelling and simulation of next-generation electrical and optical links, delivering speeds beyond current 200Gbps/lane standards
  • Use, enhance, and develop simulation platforms for architectural exploration of new approaches
  • Derive specifications for components, circuits, and signal processing features in future products
  • Provide input to senior leadership, product marketing, and engineering teams on the expected performance and required features of next-generation solutions
  • Engage and collaborate with other members of the engineering team to turn ideas into prototypes
  • Prepare and present analysis internally to marketing and engineering teams and externally to partners, customers, and standards bodies

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD degree with 5 years' relevant experience
  • Experience with and a strong mathematical understanding of the analytical and numerical modelling of system-level electrical and optical communication systems and components at 100+Gbps
  • Experience interpreting and incorporating measurements of electronic interconnects, amplifiers, and components such as the S parameters, jitter, and SNDR into system-level models
  • Programming experience in Matlab and/or Python including using AI automation to accelerate development

Desired Qualifications

  • Extensive hands-on experience in system-level simulations of 100+Gbps/lane electrical and optical links using Matlab, Python and/or other programming languages
  • Ability to correlate lab measurements with a system model and improve link performance in the lab
  • Work directly on solutions that scale with customers' emerging demands for AI and infrastructure computing and networking
  • Develop complete optical and electrical connectivity solutions, including designs in the world's most advanced CMOS technology nodes

Benefits

  • Competitive annual discretionary bonus program
  • Opportunity for annual RSU grants
  • Highly competitive benefits package designed to support your success at work, at home, and at play
