Swedbank is seeking a Compliance Model Validator to perform independent validations of financial crime risk models, including rule-based and machine learning approaches. Responsibilities

  • Perform independent model validations of models primarily used in financial crime risk areas, including rule-based and machine learning models.
  • Assess model risk concerning objective, design, construction, assumptions, limitations, data, implementation, governance, and performance monitoring.
  • Deliver high-quality model validation reports to support effective model development and risk management.
  • Proactively challenge the first line of defense constructively and evidence-based.
  • Support the bank in strengthening tools and models to combat financial crime as part of the compliance continuous maturity journey.

Requirements

  • A degree in a quantitative field (e.g., computer science, data science, data engineering, statistics, mathematics, or economics).
  • Experience in data assembling and analysis of large datasets.
  • Experience in SQL, querying and manipulating large databases.
  • Experience in rule-based and machine learning models (supervised and unsupervised learning) with relevant programming skills in Python.
  • Experience working with Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, Decision trees, Random Forest, and Isolation Forest.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with the retail banking industry, its compliance and operational risks, and preferably model risk management for AML/CTF/FS models.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and defending validation findings.
  • Excellent collaboration skills enabling effective teamwork.
  • Strong self-leadership, with the ability to drive tasks independently and meet tight timelines.
  • Proactive, engaged, and motivated to continuously learn and deepen expertise in model risk management and validation.
  • Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English.
  • Ready to enjoy working in an international environment with colleagues in multiple locations.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the retail banking industry, products and services offered, its compliance and operational risks, and preferably model risk management for AML/CTF/FS models.
