As an Application Engineering, Engineer at Synopsys in India, you will design and build full-stack web applications integrating simulation technologies into customer workflows. Responsibilities
- Design and build full stack web applications using Python, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS that integrate simulation technologies into customer engineering workflows.
- Develop backend services and RESTful APIs that connect frontend interfaces to Python-based automation engines, including PyAnsys libraries where applicable.
- Work directly with customers and internal Synopsys teams to translate engineering requirements into working web solutions that fit their actual use cases.
- Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate code generation, improve UI/UX prototyping, debug more effectively, and increase test coverage.
- Contribute to code reviews, write clear documentation, and help maintain code quality standards across development projects.
- Participate in technical demos and customer presentations to showcase solutions, gather feedback, and support adoption of new capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of professional software development experience, or a Master's degree with relevant project or internship experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python for backend development, including hands-on experience with Python-based web or UI frameworks.
- Working knowledge of frontend development concepts and UI/UX principles, with the ability to translate user needs into functional interfaces.
- Comfortable using Git for version control in a collaborative team environment.
- Solid understanding of core backend and infrastructure concepts, including RESTful API design, network fundamentals, and database systems.
- Clear written and spoken English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with the Ansys software ecosystem, PyAnsys, or similar scientific and engineering application domains is a plus.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
- Ability to sit with a customer or internal stakeholder, listen to what they are trying to accomplish, and walk away with enough clarity to start building without needing every detail spelled out in advance.
- Ability to speak up with specific suggestions when reviewing code or seeing a UI that does not quite work, in a way that helps the team move forward.
- Ability to manage multiple threads at once without dropping details.
- Comfortable working across time zones and cultures, adjusting communication style.
- Ability to test own work thoroughly before handing it off.
- Genuinely curious about how simulation and engineering tools get used in the real world.
