In short

Synopsys seeks an Analog Design Architect in Boxborough, MA, to design and develop cutting-edge semiconductor solutions for AI-powered products. This role requires over a decade of experience in memory interfaces and silicon design, with a focus on architecture, circuit design, and debugging.

Responsibilities

  • Drive silicon-to-simulation correlation for HBM PHY test chips.
  • Support customer silicon bring-up and debug.
  • Define architecture for next-generation HBM PHY products.
  • Design and validate analog and mixed-signal circuit blocks for high-speed memory interfaces.
  • Collaborate with layout engineers to ensure circuit performance is preserved.
  • Work with a cross-functional, multi-site team to deliver integrated PHY IP.
  • Mentor mid-level and junior analog designers.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on analog, mixed-signal, or RF circuit design.
  • 12+ years of hands-on experience designing analog and mixed-signal circuits for memory interfaces or high-speed die-to-die links.
  • Proven track record debugging silicon for memory interfaces, including root cause analysis of signal integrity, power integrity, and functional failures.
  • Deep understanding of how layout parasitics, substrate coupling, and power delivery affect circuit performance.
  • Strong grounding in signal integrity and power integrity concepts.
  • Experience defining or contributing to PHY architecture.
  • Scripting experience in Python, Perl, or similar is a strong plus.

Desired Qualifications

  • You can look at a silicon measurement that does not match simulation and form a hypothesis in minutes.
  • You review a layout and immediately spot the ground return path that is going to cause problems.
  • You explain a complex PPA tradeoff to a product manager or customer in two sentences without losing the nuance.
  • You do not wait for perfect data to make a decision, you work with what you have, document your assumptions, and move forward.
  • You mentor by showing, not telling.
  • You stay current on where the technology is going.

Benefits

  • Competitive salaries.
  • Comprehensive medical and healthcare plans.
  • ETO and FTO Programs.
  • Maternity and paternity leave, parenting resources, adoption and surrogacy assistance.
  • ESPP: Purchase Synopsys common stock at a 15% discount, with a 24 month look-back.
  • Retirement plans.
  • Annual bonus, equity, and other discretionary bonuses.
  • Comprehensive health, wellness, and financial benefits.
