AI LLM Senior Engineer

Technology, Data & Digital · Data, AI & Analytics · Data Science · Machine Learning · Software Engineering

In short

As a hands-on AI/LLM Engineer, you will design and build advanced AI systems for enterprises, focusing on machine learning, generative AI, and agentic systems. This role involves translating requirements into architecture decisions, designing AI agent architectures, and working with foundation models. You will also engineer the AI context layer to ground AI outputs and validate systems against enterprise non-functional requirements, producing engineering and architecture deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design, build, and deliver software components across the AI architecture, owning them end to end.
  • Design and build AI agent architectures, including individual agents, their prompts, tools, skills, multi-agent orchestration, and memory systems.
  • Design and implement agent orchestration patterns for task handoffs, communication, state management, and error recovery.
  • Evaluate design options and technical approaches, making justified design choices balancing capability, cost efficiency, performance, and reliability.
  • Design, build, and run evaluation strategies to measure agent and system quality and translate findings into design improvements.
  • Architect and implement foundation model integrations, selecting appropriate models and customization approaches.
  • Design and build model adaptation and fine-tuning pipelines, applying knowledge of transformer-based architectures.
  • Design and build the AI context layer, including context graph design and ingestion pipelines, and retrieval components.
  • Build embedding, vector storage, and retrieval into end-to-end RAG pipelines.
  • Design and implement context assembly and memory components for grounded, accurate outputs.
  • Identify, design, and build reusable components and solution patterns.
  • Design for cost efficiency and performance, optimizing model usage and resource utilization.
  • Design, build, and validate systems against enterprise non-functional requirements, implementing security and Responsible AI measures.
  • Build governance controls, including versioning, audit logging, and lineage tracking.
  • Build observability into systems for health, performance, and scalability monitoring.
  • Produce detailed architecture artifacts, including ADRs, blueprints, design documents, and diagrams.
  • Continuously learn, evaluate, and apply new design patterns, frameworks, and technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional delivery teams to translate requirements into architecture decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing & deploying AI / ML solutions using at least one cloud vendor as an AI/ML architect.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the Agentic, LLM and Generative AI space.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience architecting and operationalizing LLM driven application architecture patterns.
  • Minimum of 3 years in coding and engineering, machine learning, deep learning and NLP solutions and applications.
  • Minimum of 2 years of coding experience using python.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
