Saab, Inc. is looking for a Payroll Accounting Specialist in East Syracuse, NY to manage bi-weekly payroll for multiple US business units and process employee travel and expense reports according to company policy and regulations. Responsibilities

  • Support new hire payroll onboarding and facilitate group training sessions.
  • Process new hires, terminations, status changes, payroll deductions, rate changes, retroactive adjustments, and special payments.
  • Review employee timesheets weekly across two different operating systems.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll cycles accurately and on schedule.
  • Maintain timecard entries for employees on leave.
  • Review, update, and maintain employee paid time off (PTO) records.
  • Complete government compliance payroll reconciliations.
  • Compile and review reports to process premium pay adjustments.
  • Prepare and review payroll reports on a bi-weekly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Review and process employee travel and living expense reports, ensuring reimbursement is in accordance with company policy.
  • Monitor aged expense transactions and follow up with employees and managers to ensure timely completion.
  • Provide one-on-one training to employees on the expense reporting process.
  • Complete accounts payable distributions for payroll-related costs on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of experience in payroll and/or an accounting-related discipline.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Sound business judgment, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High level of enthusiasm, with the ability to remain flexible and adaptable to meet internal and external needs.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Experience with Oracle.
  • Experience with ADP.
