Alfa Laval is seeking an Accountant in Richmond, VA for a hybrid, full-time role. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting and 3+ years of experience in financial reporting and general ledger management. This position offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual journal entries and cost allocations.
  • Participate in month-end close and review of financial results.
  • Prepare and analyze periodic reporting for Alfa Laval Inc and other subsidiaries.
  • Collect additional information necessary for statutory closing reporting.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and investigate outstanding items.
  • Investigate and correct errors or inconsistencies in financial entries or reports.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Provide ad hoc financial reports, analysis and projects as requested.
  • Support other team members in day-to-day processes.
  • Document and update standard operating procedures for all owned processes.
  • Identify potential process improvements.
  • Be responsible for data warehouse maintenance.
  • Assist with auditor requests.
  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts within area of responsibility (e.g. Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger).
  • Maintain accurate accounting within area of responsibility to be in line with accounting principles and reporting schedules.
  • Produce accounting reports and present results.
  • Collaborate with counterparts in the finance processes (e.g. Finance Shared Service Center personnel or personnel within Local Finance).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant accounting / financial reporting experience.
  • Knowledge of standard accounting principles, best practices, and procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of general ledger structure.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other analytical tools.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong time-management, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills.
  • Highest level of integrity and trust.
  • Dedication to excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in order to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Team player.

Desired Qualifications

  • CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • Fluent in Spanish is a plus.
