Tetra Pak is seeking a VAT Compliance Controller in Budaörs, Hungary to support tax operations and the indirect tax & technology center of excellence with global VAT compliance reporting. The role involves ensuring accurate and timely VAT return submissions, assisting with local and cross-border transactions, and contributing to global VAT alignment improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance with VAT compliance obligations for Tetra Pak Group entities, focusing on the EMEA region.
- Assist with preparation, reconciliation, and timely submission of VAT, Intrastat returns, and EC Sales listings.
- Ensure efficient working of the VAT compliance process, including external ITC tool process and Intrastat preparation reports.
- Assist the team with tax technology processes, seeking efficiency gains and process improvements.
- Respond to VAT queries from local sites, external consultants, and internal colleagues.
- Assist with responses to VAT queries from tax authorities and support management on external VAT audit findings.
- Handle purchase and sales ledgers, billing, and other ad hoc administrative duties.
- Ensure follow-up with internal and external stakeholders on important issues and queries.
- Maintain updated country-specific VAT info sheets and internal procedure documents.
- Assist with local Hungarian tax compliance obligations, including ad-hoc advice, filing, audits, and reconciliations.
- Coordinate tax activities with external outsourcing partners.
- Assist the Tax Manager with daily tasks and administrative support, including legislative research and VAT treatment confirmation.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in VAT compliance.
- Fluent English and Hungarian language skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage workload independently.
- Capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working collaboratively within a global, team-oriented environment.
- ERP system knowledge, preferably SAP.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with solid knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
- Good knowledge of Hungarian tax regulations and VAT requirements.
