Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and support WebSphere MQ (7, 8, 9, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4) on distributed platforms, including HA and Clustering with SAN/NAS/NFS and load balancing.
- Provide MQ administration support for multiple applications in a Hybrid Cloud Domain.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure & middleware teams.
- Modify/re-design configurations/applications to resolve issues.
- Manage, configure, and monitor MQ Listeners, Command Servers, Channel initiators, Trigger Monitors, MQ Log files, RQD & Dead Letter Queues.
- Set up IBM Websphere MQ in a cluster environment for load balancing and failover.
- Implement IBM Websphere MQ best practices for setup, monitoring, and usage.
- Conduct impact analysis of newer versions, provide upgrade paths, and plan server upgrades with appropriate versions and patches of IBM Websphere MQ.
- Set up security (SSL, TLS, Encryption, Certificates) on Websphere MQ servers, queues, and applications.
- Create message hubs (external/internal) with endpoints and policies over MQTT.
- Implement MQ security using OAM and SSL.
- Write and edit UNIX shell scripts.
- Support middleware technologies like WAS and JBoss.
- Handle technical escalations related to SSL, TLS, Encryption, and Certificates.
- Create SOPs ensuring compliance to SLAs and train internal teams.
- Troubleshoot High Severity incidents and provide RCA.
- Collaborate with internal customers and lead MQ Series standup/migration projects.
- Manage MQ/Custom client installations.
- Understand various Broker MQ objects (Queues, Channels, Clustered Queues, etc.).
- Utilize knowledge of MQ Clustering, PUB/SUB, Exits, API, and Client access architecture.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize ActiveMQ, Apache Kafka brokers, and RabbitMQ.
- Perform MQ Backup and Recovery processes.
- Utilize MQ monitoring products (BMC True sight, Tivoli, IBM Infrared 360).
- Participate in MQ Disaster Recovery exercises.
- Apply strong debugging and problem-solving skills with an understanding of system development methodologies.
- Recommend process improvements and demonstrate creative thinking.
- Implement and oversee the implementation of all MQ objects.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Apply knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, change, problem, request management).
- Guide and mentor other Administrators and troubleshoot issues.
- Provide 24x7 support for applications to ensure continuous availability.
Requirements
- Experience with Messaging Technologies: MQ 7, 8, 9, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4 (internal, external, and shared hubs).
- Experience with IBM Infrared 360 (IR360).
- Experience with installation, maintenance, and support of WebSphere MQ on distributed platforms.
- Experience with MQ installation including HA and Clustering using SAN/NAS/NFS storages with load balancing.
- Experience in providing MQ administration support on Hybrid Cloud Domain.
- Proficiency in writing/editing UNIX shell scripts.
- Experience with middleware technologies (e.g., WAS, JBoss).
- Knowledge of implementing MQ security using OAM and SSL.
- Knowledge of various Broker MQ objects (Queues, Channels, Clustered Queues, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of MQ Clustering, PUB/SUB, Exits, API, and Client access architecture.
- Strong knowledge of MQ Backup and Recovery processes.
- Strong knowledge of MQ monitoring products (e.g., BMC True sight, Tivoli, IBM Infrared 360).
- Experience participating in MQ Disaster Recovery exercises.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Desired Qualifications
- Advantage having knowledge on configuration, troubleshooting, optimization of ActiveMQ, Apache Kafka brokers and RabbitMQ.
