Team Leader - Material Handling

The Team Leader - Material Handling will coordinate daily operations for the material handling team, ensuring parts picking accuracy and timeliness. This role involves leading a team, resolving discrepancies, training members on ERP systems, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives to meet ALPS priorities (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support the daily plan for the material handling team.
  • Assign resources as needed to meet daily goals.
  • Resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Train team members and do root cause analysis/problem solving.
  • Lead a team of material handlers to ensure parts picking is completed accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate closely with other warehouse/logistics teams to resolve issues.
  • Train team members to a high level of ERP system competency.
  • Review, plan, coordinate, and support the daily work of the department with a continuous focus on ALPS priorities.
  • Drive daily ALPS Performance Meetings and weekly Improvement Meetings.
  • Run the daily shift startup/handover meetings.
  • Participate in projects and improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in all aspects of the Problem Resolution Process to determine root causes and create sustainable solutions.
  • Provide departmental training.
  • Write and audit SOPs as required, and drive improvements to the processes.
  • Own the material handling activities in coordination with the production team.
  • Collaborate closely with the inventory team to resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Serve as liaison between the department, support functions, and Team Manager.
  • Multi-task, self-manage, and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 - 4 years previous warehouse logistics experience required.
  • 2 - 4 years previous material handling equipment experience required.
  • Experience with handheld barcode scanners (Zebra preferred).
  • Experience working with Bill of Materials, pick lists, and other manufacturing documents.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft D365 preferred).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-starter.

  • Good communication skills.
  • Cooperative.
  • Flexible.
  • Engaged in problem solving & improvement.
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds occasionally.
  • Certified Equipment operation (Forklift, Order Picker).
  • Ability to stand for majority of the work day.
  • Some hazardous material handling required.
