Saab Australia is seeking a Subcontracts Manager in Adelaide to provide end-to-end subcontract management support for defence projects. The role involves managing the full subcontract lifecycle, performing risk assessments, and collaborating with legal and finance teams. Responsibilities
- Design, implement and manage subcontract management processes from planning to delivery.
- Perform supply chain risk assessments and due diligence.
- Engage with commercial and legal teams to determine contract flow-down requirements.
- Develop project-specific special conditions and subcontract templates.
- Prepare subcontracts management specific artefacts, including RFP/RFQ documents.
- Provide support to other subcontract and procurement team members.
- Support project managers with reviews, analyses, and reporting on established subcontracts.
- Lead RFP/Q response evaluations to achieve 'best value for money'.
- Lead procurement and subcontracts support for programs and projects.
- Manage scope change, variations to Contract and S&Q activities.
- Work closely with Legal and Finance on Milestone payments and financial matters.
- Lead negotiations as required.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years in a subcontract management role, establishing, managing and closing out contracts in the defence industry.
- Extensive experience using ASDEFCON contract suite, particularly demonstrated knowledge of IP, defence security, cost principles, confidentiality, liabilities and indemnities, schedule, termination related clauses.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the ‘end to end’ subcontracts management process and experience in strategic delivery of complex, defence subcontracts.
- Preparation and presentation of slide decks for internal and customer reviews.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven commercial acumen with the ability to recognise issues and identify key risk areas.
- Proven ability to manage internal and external stakeholders and build effective relationships.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant contract law.
- Proven experience providing briefings and working closely with legal counsels on contractual and other operational matters.
- Working knowledge and understanding of Australian and US Government Export control processes.
- Must be an Australian Citizen.
- Must hold or be able to gain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline/NV1/NV2 level.
Desired Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or a related discipline.
