As a VMware vRA Engineer, you will design, implement, and support enterprise cloud automation solutions using VMware Aria Automation, vSphere, and related technologies. This role involves collaborating with various teams to deliver scalable and secure infrastructure services, automating provisioning, orchestration, and lifecycle management.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain VMware Aria Automation (vRA) blueprints, templates, and automation workflows.
- Implement self-service catalog offerings for virtual machines, infrastructure services, and application deployments.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and lifecycle operations.
- Administer and support VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and vRA platforms.
- Integrate vRA with enterprise systems like ServiceNow, Active Directory, monitoring tools, and cloud platforms.
- Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions.
- Troubleshoot provisioning failures, performance issues, and platform-related incidents.
- Collaborate with cloud and infrastructure teams to support hybrid cloud deployments across VMware Cloud, AWS, and Azure.
- Manage incidents, service requests, changes, and problem records in accordance with ITIL processes.
- Monitor platform health and capacity, implementing proactive improvements.
- Support platform upgrades, patching activities, and release implementations.
- Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware Aria Automation (vRA), VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter Server, VMware Aria Operations (vROps), and VMware Aria Orchestrator (vRO).
- Experience creating and managing Blueprints, Catalog Items, Tenant Configurations, Resource Policies, Automation Workflows, and Governance Policies.
- Experience with PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, and Shell Scripting.
- Ability to automate provisioning, patching, and infrastructure management tasks.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience supporting VMware infrastructure and automation platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Experience working in enterprise-scale virtualized environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a global support and delivery environment.
- Experience with Agile, DevOps, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Desired Qualifications
- VMware certifications such as VCP, VCAP, VMware Aria Automation, or VMware Cloud certifications are preferred.
- Experience with infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, and automation initiatives is highly desirable.
- Exposure to AI-assisted automation, operational analytics, and self-healing infrastructure concepts is an added advantage.
- Experience supporting regulated industries such as Healthcare, Life Sciences, Manufacturing, or Financial Services is preferred.
