Microsoft is seeking a Software Engineer for the Cloud+AI Silver Team to deploy and operate services in air-gapped environments, ensuring security and reliability for internal and external customers. This hybrid role involves proactive and reactive debugging, on-call support, and leveraging telemetry and data analytics to enhance products. A U.S. Top Secret Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Apply debugging tools, examine logs, and telemetry to proactively and reactively address issues.
  • Maintain live service operations, including on-call rotational duties.
  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), guiding engineers and monitoring system health.
  • Drive efforts to integrate instrumentation for telemetry data collection and analysis.
  • Analyze data on system metrics to refine products and make informed engineering decisions.
  • Build, enhance, and identify new software developer tools to support product creation and maintenance.
  • Define and develop standardized, repeatable, scalable solutions to guarantee quality.
  • Embody Microsoft's culture and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Verification of U.S. citizenship required.

Desired Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience with PowerShell, C#, or C++.
  • Experience working on large-scale distributed services with on-call responsibilities.
  • Ability to build and influence broadly towards common goals and priorities.
  • Ownership for end-to-end project lifecycle with solid project management and communication skills.

Benefits

  • USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year (US-wide range)
  • USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area)
