Vattenfall is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with expertise in Drivetrain and Yaw systems to join their WTG Systems Engineering department in Kolding, Denmark. This role involves providing technical expertise and strategic support for mechanical components across Vattenfall's operational wind portfolio, focusing on fleet-level asset management and continuous improvement to enhance performance and reduce risk in renewable energy assets.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and strategic support for Mechanical components, including Drivetrain and Yaw systems, across Vattenfall's operational wind portfolio.
- Shape maintenance strategies, define inspection and repair requirements, improve performance, manage technical risk, and evaluate new technologies.
- Develop and optimize maintenance strategies and asset management plans.
- Lead technical investigations and Root Cause Analyses (RCA).
- Assess technical risks and support data-driven decision-making across the fleet.
- Define technical requirements for inspections, repairs, monitoring systems, and maintenance activities.
- Support supplier selection, contract development, and technical performance evaluations.
- Maintain OPEX assumptions, budgets, and cost models.
- Evaluate, test, and implement innovative technologies including inspection and repair solutions.
- Review technical proposals for component purchases and refurbishments.
- Share lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Requirements
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience within the wind energy industry, preferably covering multiple stages of the Mechanical lifecycle, including design, manufacturing, and operations.
- Strong knowledge of Mechanical failure mechanisms, inspection, and repair methodologies.
- Experience in leading technical investigations and Root Cause Analyses.
- The ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in working effectively across multidisciplinary teams and influencing technical decisions.
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
Desired Qualifications
- Offshore wind experience.
- Experience developing or optimizing maintenance strategies for Drivetrains and Yaw systems.
- The ability to adapt effectively to changing operational environments, procedures, and digital tools.
- Familiarity with IEC standards relevant to Drivetrain, Yaw systems, and other mechanical systems.
- Experience working with OEMs, service providers, certification bodies, and other technical stakeholders.
