Responsibilities
- Manage core networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS), VLANs, STP, EVPN, VXLAN, and WAN technologies.
- Design and architect enterprise networks encompassing Campus, Data Center, WAN, and Cloud environments using reference architectures like Spine-Leaf, 3-tier, and Clos.
- Implement Data Center and Cloud Networking solutions, including Spine-Leaf architectures, VXLAN/EVPN, DC interconnect, and cloud networking in AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Ensure network security by default, implementing perimeter and internal security measures like Firewalls, DMZ design, Zero Trust principles, segmentation, and VPNs.
- Design for automation and programmability, understanding network automation concepts, APIs, REST basics, and tools like Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
- Utilize and maintain network tools and technologies from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, and Arista, including monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Grafana) and documentation tools (Visio, Draw.io).
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, translate business needs into technical designs, perform risk analysis, and mentor engineers.
- Adhere to network standards and best practices, manage change through ITIL awareness, and focus on cost optimization and SLA modeling.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP stack (L2–L7) and core networking fundamentals.
- Proficiency in Routing & Switching Protocols: OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS, VLANs, STP, EVPN, VXLAN.
- Experience with WAN technologies: MPLS, SD-WAN, Internet VPNs.
- Expertise in IP addressing & design: IPv4/IPv6, CIDR, summarization.
- Knowledge of High availability & resiliency: HSRP/VRRP, ECMP, load balancing, QoS.
- Strong skills in Network Design & Architecture for Enterprise, Campus, Data Center, WAN, and Cloud.
- Experience with Data Center architectures (Spine-Leaf, VXLAN/EVPN) and Cloud Networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Understanding of Network Security Architecture, including Firewalls, DMZ, Zero Trust, segmentation, NAC, and VPNs.
- Working knowledge of automation tools and languages like Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
- Hands-on familiarity with network vendors: Cisco, Juniper, and Arista.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools: SNMP, NetFlow, Telemetry, SolarWinds, PRTG, Grafana.
- Proficiency in diagramming and documentation tools: Visio, Draw.io, Lucid chart.
- Troubleshooting skills including Wireshark and packet analysis.
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills (IT & business).
- Ability to translate business needs into technical design and perform risk analysis.
- Knowledge of network standards, best practices, change management, and ITIL awareness.
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with Storage networking basics (iSCSI, FC – conceptual).
- Understanding of compliance awareness like ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, SOC2.
- Understanding of SDN & controllers like Cisco ACI, VMware NSX.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) mindset.
- Conceptual depth in packet analysis.
- Vendor negotiation and RFP evaluation skills.
- Presentation and design justification skills.
- Cost optimization (CapEx vs OpEx) and SLA & availability modeling.
