Vattenfall is seeking an experienced SCADA Server Infrastructure Engineer to maintain and improve Vattenfall's business-critical renewable energy systems in Kolding and Esbjerg, Denmark. This full-time, on-site position requires strong technical expertise in server administration, virtualisation, and security, with a focus on ensuring system availability, backup, and disaster recovery for future energy solutions.
Responsibilities
- Engineering, deploying, maintaining and continuously improving virtual and physical Fleet-Level OT server environments.
- Performing infrastructure lifecycle assessments and developing roadmaps for maintenance, upgrade, replacement and decommissioning.
- Planning and executing server replacements, migrations, upgrades and decommissioning activities.
- Designing, validating and maintaining backup, restore, high-availability and failover solutions.
- Monitoring server performance, health, capacity and availability, and identifying improvement needs.
- Analysing server incidents, performing root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Planning, tracking and documenting tasks, technical changes, procedures, results and operational knowledge.
- Contributing to purchasing activities, technical solution validation and collaboration with external suppliers.
- Supporting internal and external audit activities.
- Participating in the team's on-call rotation for specialist OT infrastructure support.
Requirements
- Degree in IT Infrastructure, Computer Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent expertise through relevant professional experience.
- Strong technical foundation in server infrastructure.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Professional communication in Danish (spoken and written).
- Valid driver's licence and access to a car.
- Ability to meet security clearance requirements.
- Windows and Linux system administration.
- Virtualisation, virtual desktop, secure remote-access and Privileged Access Management (PAM) technologies (e.g., VMware, Omnissa Horizon, Citrix, BeyondTrust, RDS).
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions.
- Enterprise server hardware (e.g., Dell, HPE, IBM).
- Device-management software for thin-client environments.
- Backup, disaster recovery, patch management and restore validation (e.g., Veeam).
- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, certificates and domain-services integration within Windows Server environments.
- Maintaining, upgrading and managing server infrastructure across its lifecycle.
- Preparing technical documentation and maintaining documentation of server architectures, configurations and procedures.
- Supporting technical purchasing and solution-validation activities.
- Security and logging solutions (e.g., Trend Micro, Splunk, Syslog).
- Infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, OpenManage, OneView).
- Basic OT network concepts.
