Synopsys is seeking a highly experienced Principal Applications Engineer with expertise in Memory Interface and Interface IP to lead customer engagements, drive technical issue resolution, and provide expert guidance. This role involves silicon bring-up, lab debug, and collaboration with internal and external teams to ensure customer success with advanced IP integration.

Responsibilities

  • Leading complex customer engagements for the integration, bring-up, and deployment of Memory Interface PHY IP (HBM, DDR, LPDDR) and Controller IP solutions.
  • Driving technical resolution of customer issues involving integration, silicon bring-up, debug, and deployment.
  • Serving as a key technical interface between customers and internal engineering teams.
  • Delivering technical presentations, training, and guidance.
  • Creating and improving technical documentation, collateral, and enablement materials.
  • Contributing expert insight to product and engineering teams based on customer feedback.
  • Staying current with evolving interface and memory protocols (DDR5, LPDDR6, MRDIMM2, HBM4, PCIe, Ethernet, UCIe).
  • Supporting customer engagements globally, with occasional travel up to 15-20%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field, ideally with a VLSI focus.
  • 10+ years of industry experience with Memory Interface IP (DDR, LPDDR, HBM) or other Interface IP (PCIe, Ethernet, UCIe).
  • Deep experience with customer-facing applications engineering, technical support, or deployment of complex IP solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with silicon bring-up, lab debug, and post-silicon technical problem-solving.
  • Strong understanding of Controller IPs, AMBA bus interfaces, AXI, backend engineering, and ASIC design flows.
  • Proficiency in Linux, Verilog and/or VHDL, and relevant ASIC development environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across customer teams and internal functions.
