Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe movement of trains by adhering to operating rules and practices.
- Oversee all on-train employees in service delivery according to Alstom service standards.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, crew members, and others regarding train movements and customer service.
- Secure movement orders and ensure understanding by the operating crew.
- Maintain knowledge of operating characteristics, safety rules, and emergency procedures.
- Physically maneuver and handle heavy equipment like air hoses and electrical cables.
- Safely board and disembark train equipment as necessary.
- Submit reports on delays, incidents, and mechanical issues.
- Assist passengers with boarding and detraining.
- Ensure compliance with all train orders, signals, and railroad regulations.
- Review instructions from dispatchers and discuss with the locomotive engineer and train crew.
- Inspect all equipment on cars before departures.
- Receive and transmit information via radio and telephone.
- Assist and instruct train crews in coupling/uncoupling cars, operating switches, and performing minor repairs.
- Work with customers to ensure accurate movement and placement of cars.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings and suspicious activity for rail safety.
- Comprehend color and/or hand signals and systems.
- Respond quickly to visual symbols, signals, and displays.
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Valid Driver's License.
- 2 years verifiable work experience and/or college.
- No driving violations involving alcohol or drugs within the past 3 years.
- Ability to meet color vision requirements as described in FRA Regulations.
- Pass all required assessments.
- Pass a background screening.

- Experience working varying shift schedules.
- Experience operating heavy equipment.
