ASSA ABLOY is looking for an on-site Mechanical Design Engineer at their Memphis, TN facility. The role involves designing and optimizing mechanical door hardware components, managing product development timelines, and providing technical guidance. A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years of experience are required.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, initiate, and complete new products, product improvements, and cost reduction designs.
  • Manage product development timelines and lead progress report-outs.
  • Design and optimize mechanical door hardware components.
  • Create and execute product inspection and test plans.
  • Analyze mechanical systems (structural, fatigue, thermal, acoustics).
  • Develop design drawing prints and oversee modifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to internal and external customers.
  • Interface with outside vendors for component selection and manufacturing.
  • Provide design-related technical guidance to other engineers and personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Proficient in SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling
  • Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge of GD&T
  • Knowledge of managing tolerance stack-up in component assemblies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • AutoCad preferred
  • Aluminum extrusion, stainless steel, extruded resin parts design experience is a plus
  • Manufacturing & Quality experience is a plus
  • ANSYS experience is a plus

Desired Qualifications

  • Background in mechanical parts and systems design preferred
