You will explore the synergy between physical modeling and ML, aiming to accelerate engineering workflows for sustainable transport solutions. The role requires a motivated MSc student with skills in Python, MATLAB, and an interest in AI and data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate ML-based surrogate models for dynamic catalyst systems.
- Investigate the impact of model architecture and calibration on performance.
- Identify engineering value provided by ML methods.
- Assess prediction accuracy, robustness, extrapolation, physical interpretability, data requirements, and computational performance of ML models.
- Support the development of guidelines for ML-based catalyst models.
- Explore combinations of physical models, ML, and automated modeling pipelines.
Requirements
- Pursuing an MSc in Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related engineering or scientific field.
- Solid understanding of, and interest in, reaction engineering and chemical kinetics.
- Experience with MATLAB and Python.
- Interest in developing knowledge of statistics, thermodynamics, exploratory data analysis, and machine learning.
- Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility.
- Proficient in English, both verbally and in writing.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with time-series machine learning.
- Experience with GT-SUITE.
