Volvo Cars is building a new electric-only car factory in Kosice, Slovakia, and is looking for a Maintenance Engineer with experience in high-pressure die casting, injection molds, or stamping dies. The role involves providing technical support, participating in maintenance activities, developing maintenance plans, and managing spare parts and team supervision.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and process support using a manufacturing engineering mindset for maintenance of high pressure die casting, injection molds, and stamping dies.
- Participate in shop maintenance and design studies of machines, technology, and media.
- Initiate or perform risk, reliability, and cost analyses, and maintenance and energy costs calculations.
- Coordinate external services.
- Create and follow preventive, predictive, and autonomous maintenance plans.
- Conduct root cause investigations and suggest improvement activities.
- Develop standards and create procedures and methods.
- Gather inputs for effective setup of processes and identify shortcomings.
- Address process, system, and procedure issues using established change management programs.
- Manage spare parts and prevent problem recurrence.
- Supervise manpower, providing day-to-day line support, maintenance, and repair tasks.
- Schedule spare parts, services, and repairs.
- Define daily tasks and set directions for the team.
- Develop and coach the team and share best practices.
Requirements
- Several years of previous working experience in maintenance function associated with melting/die-casting and CNC machining tools and equipment in the automotive sector (OEM/Tier 1).
- Track record of successful spare parts management and problem recurrence prevention.
- Experience in project management of repairs, refurbishment, and engineering change implementation projects.
- Flexibility to work in a transformation period or green-field project and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Conversational in English, written and spoken.
- Proficiency in Slovak language is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multinational team, influence, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability and willingness to travel within Europe.
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred university education in Industrial, Casting, Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience + completed Tool & Die apprenticeship.
