Volvo Cars is expanding to Kosice, Slovakia with a new electric-only car factory and is seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical) for the Paint Shop. This role is responsible for maintaining and improving mechanical systems, ensuring safety, and participating in new equipment installation and automation projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage maintenance process documents, ensuring their validity, completeness, and correctness.
- Define and update preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Inspect and supervise the implementation of process discipline and implement corrective measures.
- Optimize and improve workshop mechanical systems to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve stability.
- Provide expert troubleshooting and resolution for mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
- Act as the primary responsible person for mechanical safety, conducting audits and ensuring compliance with standards.
- Provide technical support for mechanical equipment, developing maintenance plans and spare parts lists.
- Participate in equipment selection, design, installation, and commissioning for new models.
- Lead automation improvement initiatives for the workshop.
- Share knowledge and train maintenance engineers and technicians.
Requirements
- Several years of previous working experience in maintenance function associated with mechanical equipment in the automotive sector (OEM/Tier 1).
- University education in Industrial, Mechatronic, Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Abilities to diagnose and deal with mechanical issues.
- Track record of successful spare parts management and problem recurrence prevention.
- Experience with project management of repairs, refurbishment, and engineering change implementation projects.
- Flexibility to work in an organization undergoing transformation or in a green-field project.
- Excellent communication skills, conversational in English (written and spoken).
- Proficiency in Slovak language is preferred.
- Ability to work within a multinational team, influence, and collaborate with stakeholders.
