Qualcomm is hiring a Senior Lead High-speed Electrical/Optical Post-Silicon Engineer in San Diego, CA to validate and debug next-generation 224G/448G electrical and optical interconnects. This role involves hands-on measurements, system validation, PDN debug, and cross-functional leadership to ensure product readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and drive 224G/448G electrical/optical measurements and channel characterization.
  • Analyze S-parameters, loss, impedance, crosstalk, jitter/noise, and correlate bench data to simulations.
  • Lead post-silicon bring-up, characterization, margining, and SW/HLOS-level validation.
  • Drive PDN measurement and failure isolation across various components and interfaces.
  • Develop automation, data reduction scripts, and dashboards for failure reproduction and isolation.
  • Work with SerDes PHY, SIPI/PDN, optics, firmware, software, and customer engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in post-silicon, SI/PI, SerDes/DDR, optical, package/PCB, or system validation.
  • Strong fundamentals in high-speed digital design, SerDes/DDR PHYs, SI/PI, transmission lines, jitter/noise, and equalization.
  • Hands-on experience with VNAs, oscilloscopes, BERTs, TDR/TDT, rail probing, spectrum analyzers, optical test equipment.
  • Experience validating and debugging high-speed links like DDR, PCIe/CXL, Ethernet, or UCIe.
  • Strong PDN/system debug experience, including rail noise/ripple, droop/coupling, and sequencing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field AND 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field AND 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python.
  • 4+ years of experience with debugging techniques.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with 112G/224G/448G-class SerDes, PAM4/PAM6/PAM8 signaling, and DSP-based SerDes.
  • Experience with IEEE Ethernet, DDR, PCIe/CXL, UCIe, or similar high-speed electrical/optical standards.
  • Experience with optical/electrical co-validation, module bring-up, and optical link debug.
  • Experience with package/PCB test vehicles and platforms.
  • Familiarity with Linux, UEFI, HLOS validation, embedded instrumentation, and telemetry collection.
