Emerson is hiring an Executive/Senior Executive - HR in Chennai, India, for a full-time, on-site role. The position involves end-to-end management of contract workforce, ensuring compliance with labor laws and statutory requirements, and handling HR operations and vendor agreements. This role requires strong knowledge of Indian labor laws, NAPS/NATS portal operations, and HRMS proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end management of contract workforce (200+ employees) and 20+ contract companies.
  • Manage field service employee compliance, audits, MIS, and HR operations per customer state policy.
  • Analyze resource needs and ensure timely onboarding of candidates through contract companies.
  • Provide ethics, disciplinary, and values training to contract employees.
  • Maintain databases as per state statutory needs and ensure 100% compliance.
  • Involve in new vendor selection, agreement, and licensing processes.
  • Manage end-to-end enrollment and registration of apprentices on the NAPS/NATS portal.
  • Ensure compliance with apprentice ratio, stipend norms, and contract periods as per the Apprentices Act.
  • Plan and coordinate induction, on-the-job training (OJT), safety, and skill-based training programs for staff and apprentices.
  • Track training completion and ensure training hours meet NAPS/NATS scheme norms.
  • Ensure timely renewal of statutory licenses (e.g., Contract Labour License, Shops & Establishment).
  • Maintain compliance calendar for PF, ESI, Professional Tax, and other statutory filings.
  • Liaise with statutory consultants, labor department officials, and auditors.
  • Verify vendor-side statutory compliance (PF/ESI challans, wage registers) monthly.
  • Identify and take action against non-compliant contract companies.
  • Maintain documentation for labor law audits and be inspection-ready.
  • Maintain and update employee records, attendance, and payroll inputs for contract/field staff.
  • Process monthly billing verification and reconciliation with vendor invoices.
  • Handle grievance redressal, disciplinary matters, and day-to-day HR queries.
  • Ensure HRMS/data accuracy for the contract workforce.
  • Manage full and final settlement process for exiting contract employees.
  • Conduct exit formalities, no-dues clearance, and exit documentation.
  • Analyze attrition trends among contract/field staff and share insights.
  • Manage renewal, renegotiation, and documentation of manpower/vendor service agreements.
  • Coordinate with legal/procurement for contract drafting, amendments, and commercial terms.
  • Track agreement and license expiry timelines and ensure renewals are initiated in advance.
  • Prepare periodic MIS/dashboards on headcount, attrition, compliance, and vendor performance.
  • Act as the single point of contact between business units, vendors, and statutory authorities.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of labor laws applicable to contract labor (CLRA, PF, ESI, Minimum Wages Act) and the Apprentices Act, 1961.
  • Hands-on experience with NAPS/NATS portal operations — registration, enrollment, contract management, stipend claims.
  • Prior experience managing large contract/blue-collar/field workforce and apprentice programs.
  • Vendor management and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in HRMS, MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), and MIS reporting.
  • Strong coordination with BOAT/BOPT, ITIs, and skill development bodies.
  • High attention to detail, documentation, and process discipline.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/ master’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in HR support, recruitment coordination, or payroll administration.
  • Strong knowledge of HR systems, ATS, and payroll software.
  • Prior exposure to NAPS/NATS portal management strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
