Tetra Pak is seeking interns for its Engineering Internship Program in Sikeston, MO, for Summer 2027. The program offers three distinct roles: Autonomous Maintenance Intern, World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Analyst Intern, and Preventive Maintenance Intern. Interns will gain hands-on experience through meaningful projects, supported by mentors and a structured onboarding program.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in equipment inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and basic condition monitoring activities.
  • Support the development and maintenance of AM standards, checklists, and visual management tools.
  • Assist with continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze operational and maintenance data from production systems and reports.
  • Generate and maintain reports related to Short Stops, Equipment Breakdowns, Planned Maintenance Activities, Downtime Analysis, and Equipment Performance Metrics.
  • Identify trends and summarize findings to support operational decision making.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases to ensure data integrity.
  • Support Continuous Improvement Projects by identifying operational inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement using WCM methodologies and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Participate in kaizen events and process optimization initiatives.
  • Gather, validate, and analyze production data related to safety, quality, productivity, cost, and equipment performance.
  • Develop reports and dashboards to help teams track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Support investigations into production losses, quality issues, and equipment downtime using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagrams, and Pareto Analysis.
  • Help document findings and track corrective actions.
  • Participate in WCM pillar activities, audits, and assessments.
  • Help maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and continuous improvement documentation.
  • Work closely with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to implement improvement actions and monitor results.
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders through regular project updates and reports.
  • Support E-maintenance Activities and Improvements - trained in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Help with improvement on spare parts management.
  • Support Preventative Maintenance (PM) Assignments - PM building and improvements.

Requirements

  • Suggested majors: Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Operations Management, Business Analytics / Data Analytics, Supply Chain Management.
  • Strong Microsoft office skills, being able to create PowerPoints and Excel sheets is preferred.
  • Availability for internship: May 31, 2027 – April 28, 2028, graduation must be after the internship has ended.
  • Availability of working onsite for 8 hours a day (40 hours/week) during the summer (part-time up to 20 hours/week during the school year).
  • Suggested majors: Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Engineering Management.
  • Interest in continuous improvement methodologies and project management.
  • Ideally some manufacturing experience.
  • Suggested majors: Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering.
  • Proactivity, curiosity and eagerness to learn.
  • A collaborative and team-oriented work style.

Desired Qualifications

  • Sustainability knowledge a plus.
  • Experience with Excel VBA, Power BI, power Automate, SQL or Python is a plus.
