As a DevOps Cloud Engineer (Azure & Databricks) at Vattenfall, you will operate and develop platforms supporting data, analytics, and AI ambitions. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing secure, scalable Azure and Databricks environments using CI/CD, IaC, and automation, contributing to Vattenfall's digital innovation and fossil-free living mission.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and operate Azure-based cloud platform solutions.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Git, and automation tools.
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code solutions using ARM, Bicep, and scripting technologies.
  • Automate provisioning, deployment, and lifecycle management of cloud resources.
  • Maintain and improve self-service platform capabilities based on .NET Core and Angular.
  • Ensure platform reliability, availability, and operational stability.
  • Support administration and continuous improvement of Azure Databricks and Snowflake environments.
  • Implement security controls in alignment with enterprise policies and governance requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and operations specialists to deliver secure and scalable cloud services.
  • Operate and further develop Vattenfall’s Azure Databricks platform for analytics, data, and AI workloads.
  • Manage identity and access controls through Azure AD integration and RBAC principles.
  • Support secure networking concepts including private endpoints and secure cluster connectivity.
  • Implement and maintain data governance capabilities using Unity Catalog and related Databricks services.
  • Manage platform resources using Infrastructure as Code approaches such as Terraform and ARM templates.
  • Establish compute standards, governance controls, and cost optimisation practices.
  • Enable integrations with Azure Data Lake, Power BI, Snowflake, and other enterprise services.
  • Support onboarding and adoption of platform capabilities across teams.
  • Contribute to monitoring, logging, and security improvements throughout the platform landscape.
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance, cost efficiency, and sustainability of cloud services.
  • Enhance automation and self-service capabilities for platform users.
  • Support the introduction of new cloud, AI, and analytics capabilities.
  • Help create a seamless developer and data practitioner experience across the platform ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role in Azure environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, preferably within operations, governance, or platform engineering.
  • Strong understanding of Azure services including Networking, Storage, App Services, Virtual Machines, and Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience working with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as ARM, Bicep, Terraform, and PowerShell.
  • Knowledge of analytics and data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, or modern data lake architectures.
  • Understanding of cloud governance, security, and access management principles.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Professional communication skills in English (local language skills are a plus but not mandatory).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost optimisation.
  • Experience supporting enterprise AI or machine learning platforms.
