We are seeking a Design Engineer to define detail designs and negotiate requirements with technical groups. Responsibilities include producing design schemes, preparing manufacturing drawings, and ensuring designs are functional and cost-effective.

Responsibilities

  • Produce design schemes for major assemblies from initial designs and feasibility studies.
  • Prepare designs for products/components in line with the quality control system.
  • Create manufacturing drawings and data that comply with specification and required standards.
  • Ensure designs are functional, fit for purpose and satisfy the relevant design criteria.
  • Perform relevant basic calculations in support of design objectives.
  • Ensure that design methods and design solutions used are cost effective and can be manufactured efficiently.
  • Progress work as an integrated part of the project team, to ensure completion to agreed time scales.
  • Select appropriate current department instructions and standards and ensure these are applied to design schemes.
  • Be an active member of the team, contributing to the well running of the project in meeting schedule for assigned activities.
  • Raise operational problems as necessary with supervisor to ensure they are resolved with minimal loss of time.
  • Develop advanced understanding of manufacturing methods and processes and ensure these are relates to design actions.
  • Act on feedback from manufacturing to ensure this is related to the enhancement of documentation within the design office.
  • Define detail design and negotiate requirements with other technical groups working on or interfacing with specific design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum 2-3 years of design experience in a relevant industry.
  • Perfect CAD skill and competence in the use of an automated design package.
  • Proficiency in 2D (AutoCAD), 3D (Inventor), and solid-modeling techniques.
  • English reading and writing fluency.

Desired Qualifications

  • Vacuum industry background is preferred.
