We are seeking a Design Engineer to define detail designs and negotiate requirements with technical groups. Responsibilities include producing design schemes, preparing manufacturing drawings, and ensuring designs are functional and cost-effective.
Responsibilities
- Produce design schemes for major assemblies from initial designs and feasibility studies.
- Prepare designs for products/components in line with the quality control system.
- Create manufacturing drawings and data that comply with specification and required standards.
- Ensure designs are functional, fit for purpose and satisfy the relevant design criteria.
- Perform relevant basic calculations in support of design objectives.
- Ensure that design methods and design solutions used are cost effective and can be manufactured efficiently.
- Progress work as an integrated part of the project team, to ensure completion to agreed time scales.
- Select appropriate current department instructions and standards and ensure these are applied to design schemes.
- Be an active member of the team, contributing to the well running of the project in meeting schedule for assigned activities.
- Raise operational problems as necessary with supervisor to ensure they are resolved with minimal loss of time.
- Develop advanced understanding of manufacturing methods and processes and ensure these are relates to design actions.
- Act on feedback from manufacturing to ensure this is related to the enhancement of documentation within the design office.
- Define detail design and negotiate requirements with other technical groups working on or interfacing with specific design.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Master's preferred).
- Minimum 2-3 years of design experience in a relevant industry.
- Perfect CAD skill and competence in the use of an automated design package.
- Proficiency in 2D (AutoCAD), 3D (Inventor), and solid-modeling techniques.
- English reading and writing fluency.
