As a Data Center HR Partner for AWS Builder Experience Team, you will be a 100% on-site strategic HR partner for Data Center leadership and Builders. You will advocate for Builders, manage employee relations, and drive leadership development. Responsibilities
- Build trust through consistent floor/onsite presence, site walks & Gemba walks.
- Proactively monitor Builder sentiment trends using listening mechanisms.
- Support Builder queries with discretion and expertise.
- Foster and role model an environment of inclusion for all Builders.
- Establish relationships with employee representative boards.
- Partner with Data Center leaders to develop proactive strategies and goals focused on the Builder experience.
- Identify root causes using sentiment trends and HR data and provide site-level recommendations.
- Coordinate cluster-wide communications in partnership with site leadership.
- Present at monthly All Manager and All Team Meetings.
- Apply HR fundamentals to problem-solve across talent management, performance management, compensation, and employee relations.
- Resolve complex cases independently, navigating Amazon Policies with high judgment.
- Conduct workplace investigations in collaboration with Builder Relations.
- Resolve systemic pay, internal transfer, and hiring defects in partnership with central teams.
- Build procedural policy/governance standards (e.g., SOPs).
- Consult, coach, and develop site leadership through decision-making with empathy and sound judgment.
- Identify development opportunities through data and anecdotal feedback.
- Educate leaders on HR operating model standards.
- Support interviews for site manager and technical manager roles.
- Work with partner teams such as HRBPs and Centers of Excellence (COEs) to innovate, implement, and deploy HR strategies.
- Partner with New Hire Experience teams on orientation and onboarding.
- Manage through ambiguity in a fast-paced, continuously innovating environment.
- Conduct weekly Gemba walks, engaging directly with Builders to understand their experience.
- Leverage Builder sentiment data to advocate for their needs.
- Consult and coach leadership through talent management, performance management, compensation decisions, and employee relations issues.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align on Builder engagement actions.
- Conduct workplace investigations.
- Manage Builder concerns as the first point of escalation.
- Own site-specific people projects that drive impact.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Human Resources Management, Labor Relations, Business/Management, Psychology, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience in HR business partner, HR generalist, or HR site partner roles
- Experience supporting hourly/frontline populations of 100+ employees in an operations or manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience in employee relations including conducting investigations and managing complex, high-risk ER cases
- Working knowledge of local employment law

- Experience in data center, critical infrastructure, construction, or technology operations environments
- Experience supporting a multi-site or multi-cluster scope across a geographic region
- Adaptability: Manage multiple scenarios utilizing HR expertise, consulting skills, and influence.
- High Judgement: Exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations. Serve as first point of escalation for Builder concerns.
- Strategic Thinking: Connect sentiment trends and HR data to bigger picture operational goals and translate them into clear recommendations that drive leadership action.
- Influencing: Influence multiple levels of the organization, from builders to senior site leaders, without direct authority.
- Coaching: Develop site leadership in the flow of work.
- This is a 100% Onsite role and requires the ability to travel to assigned Data Center sites within an operational cluster (estimated 25% travel).
- Data Center environments are 24/7 operational facilities; flexibility to support off-shift populations and respond to time-sensitive people matters is expected.
- This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports; leadership is demonstrated through influence, mentorship, and cross-functional partnership.
