This temporary CNC Operator position is for the 2nd shift, Monday through Friday. The role involves operating computer-controlled machines for metal parts, including changing tools, measuring dimensions, and adjusting machine controls. A high school diploma or GED and some industrial experience are required.
Responsibilities
- Operate computer-controlled machines to perform machine functions on metal work pieces.
- Change punching tools and dies as required.
- Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Remove and replace dull cutting tools.
- Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines.
- Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate.
- Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction.
- Stop machines to remove finished work pieces or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement.
- Lift work pieces to machines manually or with hoists or cranes.
- Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and save modified programs.
- Insert control instructions into machine control units to start operation.
- Perform other assigned tasks at the direction of Supervision.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED certificate and/or industrial experience.
- Employees in these occupations need anywhere from a few months to one year of working with experienced employees.
- Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
- Operation and Control — Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
- Reading Comprehension — Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
- Equipment Selection — Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, and their applications.
- Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Proficiency with Calipers (Dial, Vernier).
- Proficiency with Gauges or inspection fixtures (Dial indicators, Pin gauges, Fixtures).
- Proficiency with Tape Measures.
- Experience with CNC Weidemann (CNC punching machine).
- Experience with CNC RAS (CNC bending machine).
- Experience with CNC Press Brake (CNC press brake).
- Experience with CNC Software.
