Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate audiobook catalogs from independent authors, hybrid publishers, independent presses, and distribution partners.
- Negotiate audiobook licensing agreements and commercial partnerships.
- Build trusted relationships with independent publishers, distributors, and authors.
- Develop creative partnership structures for sustainable growth.
- Use market insights, performance analytics, and commercial data to inform acquisition strategies.
- Partner with creators and publishers to optimize catalog performance and resolve operational challenges.
- Collaborate with Product, Editorial, Growth, Operations, and Finance teams.
- Advocate internally for the needs of independent creators and publishers.
- Contribute to initiatives focused on catalog expansion, subscriber value, and listening growth.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in publishing, digital media, business development, content licensing, or content partnerships.
- Experience negotiating and closing commercial licensing, distribution, or partnership agreements.
- Strong understanding of the independent publishing ecosystem.
- Understanding of opportunities and challenges for entrepreneurial creators and independent publishing businesses.
- Ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using data, financial insights, and market trends for commercial decisions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively with attention to detail.
- Comfort navigating ambiguity and finding practical solutions.
- Passion for audiobooks, storytelling, and the creator economy.
- Bachelor's degree; MBA or other advanced degree is beneficial.
- Comfort collaborating across multiple time zones.
- Willingness to travel when needed.
