We are seeking a Staff Applications Engineer in Tokyo, Japan, to help customers solve challenging electromagnetic design problems using Ansys software. This role involves direct customer engagement, technical training, and collaboration with product development teams to drive innovation in AI-powered products.

Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with customers working on chip, package, and PCB designs to diagnose signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC challenges and recommend the right simulation approach using Ansys HFSS, SIwave and Q3D.
  • Train customer engineering teams on Ansys simulation products, from first-time users learning the interface to experienced engineers looking to optimize runtime or accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Synopsys product development team to communicate customer requirements, test beta releases, and provide feedback that shapes future product roadmaps.
  • Support the sales team in technical evaluations, competitive benchmarks, and proof-of-concept projects that help customers understand the value of moving to or expanding their use of our solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a focus on electromagnetics, signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), EMC, or related disciplines.
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in signal integrity, power integrity, EMC, or related areas, preferably within a design, validation, or product development environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple customer projects simultaneously and consistently meeting commitments, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 50% of the time.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in an international environment or using English in a professional setting is a plus.
  • Experience with Ansys software or other commercial CAE, CAD, and EDA tools is a strong advantage.
