The Registration & Compliance Operations (R&C) organization is responsible for making Amazon the safest and most trusted place on Earth by protecting the innocent and deterring the 'ill-intentioned'. Protecting the interests of the end users is our top priority, balancing being compliant and giving a great customer experience. Our team achieves this objective through a combination of automated and manual investigations of the seller transactions on our marketplace. R&C provides/delivers Seller Registrations & Compliance operational processes/services (24x7) to Amazon external Customers as well as different internal Amazon stakeholders.
We are seeking a Risk Manager II - Operational Risk and Resilience (ORR), to provide subject matter expertise to support for the global operational risk program, which is made up of several projects, that will cover all R&C Operations centers globally. The role will be responsible for implementing the first line of defence (1LoD) risk infrastructure across the scoped areas, conducting follow up program reviews and maintaining the Risk Registers.
Jointly involved in developing a detailed definition, implementation and execution strategy for the ORR program, followed by governance & cadence mechanisms, around the global R&C risk framework. The manager will work very closely with other worldwide Amazon functions/teams during the implementation and execution phases of the risk capability.
The successful candidate must also possess a record of effective project management capabilities, be innovative and adaptive to the changing requirements of the program. Additionally, they will also be able to operate autonomously, use discretion when dealing with sensitive and critical information, and apply sound business principles and analysis to identify problems and initiate / drive actions to address them.


Key job responsibilities
• Support the overall R&C ORR team across all risk disciplines with the ultimate aim of meeting team goals.
• Ensure accurate capture, assessment and communication of risk, conduct and support ongoing R&C risk assessments and provide oversight of the implementation and validation of Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSAs).
• Review systems and processes for the adequacy and effectiveness of the R&C risk and control environment.
• Support the implementation of Amazon’s Global Risk Framework, Policy and Procedures that defines the operational risk strategy & program goals.
• Work with multiple functions within R&C to drive consistency in Operational Risk & Resilience understanding and drive a strong Operational Risk awareness.
• Present risk assessment findings and agree treatment strategies with key stakeholders.
• Work with key stakeholders to integrate the 1LoD processes into the three lines of defence.
• Work with all relevant stakeholders to develop new and innovative ORR initiatives or processes.
• Ensure training is adequately planned and resourced to ensure all risk programme related roles have sufficient competency to execute the requirements of the risk program.
• Manage all documentation relating to the Global Risk Assessment process and ensure it is regularly updated and socialized with the relevant stakeholders.
• Perform other similar or related duties as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years experience of working in a role in Enterprise or Operational Risk Management, (may consider Assurance, Compliance or Audit).
• 5+ years working experience of conducting risk assessments (in particular RCSAs would be advantageous)
• Working knowledge and experience in implementing programs to ISO:31000 standards or similar.
• Good experience of managing large projects.
• Possess communication skills and should be able to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Track record of creative problem solving, and the desire to create and build new processes and be comfortable challenging the status quo even when it may involve confrontation.
• Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
• Time management and multitasking skills as well as attention to detail
• Written and verbal communication skills with ability to concisely and effectively address questions while providing subject matter expertise to associates and management across diverse sites
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Institute of Risk Management (IRM) or other risk professional certification.
• Track record of sound decision making, taking ownership, and delivering results in a lead role.
• Ability to dive deep into data, existing processes, people, and technology challenges in order to identify risks and opportunities.
• Track record of having earned the trust of leadership by challenging norms, upgrading team performance, enabling growth, and improving efficiency.
• Interpersonal skills, including the written and oral communication skills necessary to build relationships and positively influence decision making.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity & across large, complex and global corporate network, partnering & delivering effectively with other teams globally

Job description  Person Specification:    The successful candidate will be an experienced leader responsible for owning and operating the IT SOX Controls framework.   Job Description: Ownership of Risk Control Matrix (RCM) for all IT SOX controls. Manage any changes to IT SOX processes and update based on discussions with control owners. Inform all relevant stakeholders of changes to the RCM Evaluate Internal Controls (ITGC and ITAC etc.) as per various compliance standards and frameworks such as SOX, COSO etc. Report potential controls gaps, suggest remediations/ actions plans. Standardize and streamline population files and data extraction processes to drive efficiencies and the consistent application of methodologies. Responsible for planning audits with Internal and External auditors for information systems and related processes in a complex, multi-platform environment. Finalize deficiencies list with internal and external auditors. Identify and clearly define the root cause of control deficiencies based on trend analysis. Proactively follow up on remediation status of deficiencies. Knowledge of key report testing for both external and in-house applications.
