Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Visual Merchandising/Activity co-workers, inspiring them to strengthen the unique IKEA identity in range presentation.
  • Gather and translate local market knowledge of people's needs into relevant and inspiring range presentation solutions.
  • Create range presentation solutions that are relevant, inspiring, affordable, and commercial, meeting diverse tastes and exceeding expectations.
  • Stay updated on retailing, home furnishing, and trends to facilitate workshops for creative directions.
  • Recruit, develop, and ensure succession planning for Visual Merchandising/Activity co-workers.
  • Support the department action plan using layout as a commercial tool and execute plans with the Com&In team.
  • Act quickly on commercial opportunities and ensure the team understands the financial impact of Com&In actions.
  • Ensure the team bases work on layout as a commercial tool and executes range presentation with quality, simplicity, and efficiency.
  • Ensure the team keeps visitors in mind, minimizes disruption, and communicates changes on the shop floor.
  • Actively contribute to the national Visual Merchandising/Activity Managers network and share directions and tools.

Requirements

  • Significant experience working as a visual merchandiser.
  • Design-based education.
  • Proven success in managing and leading creative processes and coaching people.
  • Visual competence with a keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Passion for home furnishing, design, and how people live at home.
  • Experience working in a fast retail environment with a proven customer-focused mindset.
  • Clear communication skills, including verbal explanation of concepts and visual interpretation.
  • Ability to set and implement action plans, set expectations, provide clear direction, and follow up goals.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work efficiently to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency with knowledge and experience of relevant software (e.g., AutoCad).

Desired Qualifications

  • Retail and home furnishing experience is preferred.
  • Experience of managing and leading co-workers is preferred.
  • Experience of working in visual merchandising in a retail environment is preferred.
  • Ability to combine and identify commercial, aesthetic, and practical skills.
  • Ability to create a trustful and creative environment.
  • Natural ability to move smoothly from assessing the bigger picture to seeing the small details.
  • Good analytical and strategic skills.
  • Ability to steer the store business over the short-, mid-, and long term.
  • Knowledge on Range presentation the IKEA way (layout as a commercial tool, store media, display techniques).
  • Knowledge of Home furnishing the IKEA way.
  • Understanding of life at home in the local market and market research outcomes.
  • Awareness of the work method for presenting the IKEA range, the IKEA Concept, and IKEA Brand objectives.
  • Knowledge of IKEA mechanical sales system, Global tools and solutions.
  • Understanding of trends influencing home furnishing and retailing.
  • Understanding of Commercial calendar and store activities.
  • Understanding of Commercial lighting.
  • Understanding of Store Communication.
  • Understanding how to lead creative processes.
  • Understanding how to build visual merchandising and activity competence.
