Alstom is seeking a full-time System Designer for the RBC_ETCS program in Charleroi, BE. This role involves analysing customer needs, evaluating change requests, proposing and documenting system-level solutions, and supporting implementation teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality rail signalling systems.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse change requests (CRs) and their impact on existing products.
  • Propose and document optimal solutions at the system level.
  • Support cross-functional teams (software engineering, verification and validation, safety, certification) to ensure successful implementation.
  • Analyse customer needs and challenge technical proposals.
  • Evaluate the functional, safety, and documentation impact of change requests.
  • Ensure the coherence and traceability of global solutions.
  • Provide expertise and 'hotline' support for project-level deployments.

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Experience or understanding of system design and system engineering.
  • Knowledge of railways signalling systems or similar safety-critical systems (e.g., automotive, aeronautics).
  • Familiarity with modelling methods such as UML, SADT, SysML, or Matlab.
  • Strong ability to write clear, rigorous, and concise documentation in English.
  • Basic programming skills.
  • Experience with requirement traceability tools like DOORS.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience or understanding of system design and system engineering.
  • Knowledge of railways signalling systems or similar safety-critical systems (e.g., automotive, aeronautics).
