Responsibilities
- Manage supplier setup for assigned suppliers, including safety stock, safety days, and packaging.
- Maintain and monitor correct parameters in Volvo’s MRP system to optimize material flow.
- Evaluate EDI call offs and supplier ASN transmissions for accuracy and ensure timely delivery.
- Steer and maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Communicate directly with assigned automotive suppliers.
- Coach and develop suppliers to improve overall delivery performance.
- Utilize tools like VSIM and A-reports for supplier development.
- Continuously improve supply chain systems and processes.
- Ensure supplier capacity and flexibility by monitoring delivery performance and backlog.
- Secure smooth implementation of new parts for engineering changes.
- Participate in supplier changes or modifications in close contact with MP&L teams, project teams, and Purchasing.
- Follow up on personal and department KPIs.
- Request ad-hoc inventory cycle counts.
- Lead recovery efforts for material expedites.
- Act as a window for supplier material flow error and corrective/recovery actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain/Logistics Management, Business Administration, Information Technology or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent 3-5 years of work experience in high-paced supply chain management (preferably automotive manufacturing).
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of MRP, lead time, and risks of disturbances in the complete supply chain.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills showcasing communication, cooperation, and strategic thinking.
- Driven, initiative, and results-oriented.
- Experience with both international and domestic supplier communications.
- Strong customer focus and service mind-set with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
- Ability to perform well under pressure.
- Solid understanding of Tier 1 supplier operations and risks.
- Ability to effectively communicate internally and externally.
- Ability to lead a team in stressful and changing situations.
- Ability to work variable schedules as required.
- Ability to create clear and effective presentations to leadership.
- Ability to utilize mainframe and application-based systems as well as EDI and MS Office proficiency.
