The Senior Tax Analyst will be part of the North America tax team, focusing on indirect tax compliance, reporting, and process improvements. This hybrid role in Charlotte, NC, involves data analysis, reconciliation, and collaboration with various teams to enhance tax processes.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain, cleanse, transform, and validate transactional data for indirect tax returns, account reconciliations, audits, and management reporting.
  • Investigate data anomalies, transaction coding issues, and system or process gaps, documenting findings and coordinating corrective actions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for standardization, streamlining, and automation of data preparation, account reconciliations, compliance processes, and notice management.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly indirect tax account reconciliations for North America entities and joint ventures, resolving reconciling items.
  • Support the preparation, review, and timely filing of U.S. and Canadian indirect tax returns, including sales and use tax, GST/HST, QST, and PST.
  • Prepare property tax accrual entries, workpapers, and returns for facilities.
  • Monitor, research, and assist in responding to indirect tax notices and correspondence from tax authorities.
  • Support indirect tax audits by preparing data extracts, reconciliations, workpapers, and responses.
  • Execute indirect tax activities for joint ventures, collaborating with finance teams and external advisors.
  • Review the indirect tax treatment of purchases and sales, including exemption documentation and taxability determinations.
  • Perform other tax-related duties and support special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, tax, information systems, or a related discipline.
  • Two to three years of related tax experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong data analytics and problem-solving skills, including the ability to reconcile complex data and resolve discrepancies.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with Power Query, Alteryx, Power BI, or similar data tools is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and external advisors.
  • Experience with SAP, indirect tax compliance software such as Vertex, and tax determination engines is a plus.
