Google Cloud is looking for a Software Engineering Manager for Looker in Hyderabad, India. This role involves leading a team of 6-10 software engineers to deliver exceptional client experiences and drive cloud data analytics priorities, with a focus on AI-driven BI experiences. You will be responsible for hiring, developing, and retaining talent, while collaborating with product management and other teams to meet customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate a team environment that is psychologically safe and encourages collaboration and innovation.
- Empower your team to take ownership and deliver outstanding results.
- Partner with Product Management and technical leads to define and execute the technical strategy for Looker.
- Guide the team through complex architectural decisions and ensure high standards for code quality are maintained through effective design and code review processes.
- Improve the end-to-end customer experience, from ease of use to debuggability and raw performance.
- Help customers profile their workload, and tune it for GCP.
- Ensure the team delivers high-quality software on time.
- Set priorities, manage the project execution, and communicate progress and risks to stakeholders across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- 5 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
- 2 years of experience with GenAI techniques (e.g., LLMs, multi-modal, large vision models) or with GenAI-related concepts (e.g., language modeling, computer vision).
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
