Emerson is looking for a seasoned Software Engineering Manager in Eden Prairie, MN, to lead the development of next-generation industrial automation products, specifically Rosemount Magnetic and Vortex Flowmeters. This hybrid role requires strong leadership in technical strategy, global team direction, and championing modern engineering practices for innovation, reliability, and security.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and organizational leadership for complex embedded software products.
  • Direct global engineering teams to define software architecture for next-generation flowmeter platforms.
  • Prepare multi-year plans, establish technical goals, and define cost/schedule requirements.
  • Interact with customers, vendors, and cross-functional groups.
  • Prepare technical proposals and represent Emerson to standards bodies.
  • Administer technical policies and procedures, and approve documentation.
  • Provide technical consultation and coach the Rosemount Flow software team.
  • Champion modern engineering practices like requirements management, CI/CD, and secure development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science from an ABET-accredited engineering school.
  • Ten (10) years of related software engineering experience with a track record of leading complex product developments.
  • Two (2) years of leadership experience in an industrial or technology organization.
  • Familiarity with coding standards (MISRA), version control, defect tracking, and requirements management tooling (Jama, DOORS, Azure DevOps).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Up to 10% travel required (domestic and international).
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • SAFe SPC or RTE certification or rollout experience.
  • Prior experience with flow measurement, process instrumentation, or industrial sensor products.
  • Experience mentoring and developing senior engineering talent globally.
  • Experience with embedded product development.
  • Knowledge of industrial digital communication protocols (HART, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus, PROFIBUS, Ethernet/IP).
  • Experience with functional safety (IEC 61508 / IEC 61511, SIL 2/3).
  • Experience with secure development lifecycle practices (IEC 62443).
  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts (CI/CD, process automation).
