Responsibilities
- Engage in the complete service life-cycle, encompassing inception, design, development, operation, and continual refinement.
- Support services pre-launch through activities such as system design consultation, development of software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and formal launch reviews.
- Contribute to the sustained development of our services, ensuring they operate with reliability, minimizing operational toil.
- Maintain live services by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health metrics.
- Implement incident response procedures to guarantee services consistently meet their defined Service Level Objective (SLOs).
- Collaborate with partner teams to identify risks within our corporate systems and develop solutions to simplify or mitigate adverse impacts on Google employees productivity or business processes.
- Seek opportunities to apply emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), to address traditional system engineering challenges in effective ways.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with programming in one or more programming languages.
- 2 years of experience working with administration (e.g., filesystems, inodes, system calls) or networking (e.g., Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protoco (TCP/IP), routing, network topologies and hardware, Software Defined Networking).
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- 2 years of experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
