Alfa Laval is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Coordinator for their Indianapolis facility. This full-time, on-site role involves inventory control, shipping/receiving, paperwork processing, and material delivery. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, basic computer and math skills, and preferred experience in manufacturing and forklift operation.

Responsibilities

  • Unpack and examine incoming shipments, rejecting damaged items, and rectifying damages or shortages.
  • Compare identifying information and counts against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records for incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Operate forklift or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments to storage or work areas.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections for required equipment (e.g., fork trucks, cranes).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incoming problems, communicating with Team Leaders or Purchasing if assistance is required.
  • Route items to departments or warehouse locations and maintain a log of received materials and supplies.
  • Affix shipping labels and stamp/stencil identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  • Package components to specified quality standards, considering transport risks like ocean transport.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Manage warehouse inventory (indoor and outdoor), ensuring correct counts, minimized damage risks, and identification of slow-moving inventory.
  • Compile order-specific kits, ensuring component availability for production.
  • Provide needed materials to various workstations and/or locations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proper accounting for scrap inventory and raw goods.
  • Conduct inventory counts to support accurate inventory valuation.
  • Manage inventory systems including Kanban card and Min/Max order systems.
  • Manage recycling container usage and disposal.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic desk top computer skills.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to read a tape measure and micrometer.
  • Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Forklift operation certification preferred.
  • Overhead crane experience preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
