The Proposals Engineer is responsible for coordinating and handling the technical and/or commercial aspects of proposals.  This position will have overall accountability for the technical and commercial offering including bill of materials, Enterprise Estimating Tool (EET) reports, pricing, contractual terms, and writing and assembling the technical and commercial portion of the proposal narrative. 
Primary responsibilities include the preparation of gas turbine control system offers in response to customer requests for proposals. This person is responsible to drive offers consistency across the Proposal team in Costa Rica and North America.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Provide strong coordination between the sales team, engineering and the customer application engineering team (when needed) to ensure consistency, quality, timely, and customer value centricity of the technical proposal.
  • Regularly review offers for accuracy, consistency and thoroughness
  • Develop and maintain standard checklists, costs and offer document templates for various standard hydro offerings.
  • Drive consistency within the Power Pursuits organization to promote standard solutions and offerings.
  • Prepare firm and budgetary turbine control offers for turbine projects in response to customer requests for proposals.
  • Lead plant site walkdowns to capture offer information and pursue 3rd party vendors for special application and installation requirements
  • Interface and work effectively with projects, field service, engineering, manufacturing, commercial integration and finance.
  • Apply process and product knowledge when preparing technical proposals.
  • Develop "Best Cost" solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Lead offer negotiations with customers
  • Review Purchase Orders and work with customers until it accurately reflects the offered scope.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Acts as subject matter specialist.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams—including engineering, sourcing, and field services—to ensure proposal accuracy, risk mitigation, and alignment with execution capabilities for both mechanical and controls-related retrofit solutions.
  • Develop cost models, technical documentation, and proposal deliverables that clearly define the scope, schedule, and value proposition of complex turbine upgrade packages, tailored to customer needs in both utility and industrial applications.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • BS in Electronics, Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics or related field
  • At least 10 years of closely related experience with the ability to structure creative deals for customer solutions, negotiate contracts, and deal effectively with customers.
  • Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite of tools, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledgeable in control and PLC/DCS, 3rd party integration, applications and interfaces
  • Knowledgeable in field instrumentation, metering, control and automated valves, and bus technologies
  • Strong working command of the English language, at least B2 Upper Intermediate level of English is required

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Prior experience in Ovation proposals preparation.
  • Power and/or Water Industry knowledge.
