As a Service Technician in Geismar, LA, you will provide customer support by performing commissioning, maintenance, and repair of generators, air compressors, and pumping systems. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and control systems, with a minimum of 3 years of field service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform commissioning, maintenance, and repair of generators, diesel and electric air compressors, and pumping systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical, engine, and control system issues.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and inspections according to service schedules and OEM guidelines.
  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot control systems and instrumentation.
  • Accurately complete service reports, inspection records, and documentation.
  • Follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate with technical support and parts teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Support equipment commissioning, load testing, and performance verification.
  • Identify potential equipment issues and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
  • Represent the organization professionally on customer sites.
  • Promote and practice proper safety procedures and the correct use of personal protective equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of field service experience supporting generators, compressors, pumps, or related industrial equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electric motors, power generation systems, and industrial mechanical equipment.
  • Experience servicing industrial generators, air compressors, and pumping systems.
  • Proficiency troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control systems, including sensors, wiring, and generator controllers (DEIF, ComAp, Deep Sea, Woodward, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, and service documentation.
  • Experience with commissioning, startup support, load bank testing, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools, meters, and service software.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis capabilities.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and job prioritization skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication with accurate service documentation.
  • Ability to work independently in customer and field environments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and procedural compliance.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to customer sites as required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Technical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent hands-on experience in diesel, electrical, or industrial equipment service is preferred.
  • OEM, dealer, or manufacturer-authorized service experience preferred.
