As a Senior Technical Standards contributor, you will represent Qualcomm in standardization forums, focusing on RISC-V CPU. This role requires deep knowledge of RISC-V ISA, processor architecture, and the semiconductor industry landscape to develop and promote industry standards. You will also work with internal teams and legal counsel on patent filings.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with internal and external partners to improve and evolve industry technical standards.
  • Represent Qualcomm as a delegate in standardization forums.
  • Understand semiconductor industry landscapes and competitors' strengths and weaknesses.
  • Identify and focus on existing and emerging standards for Qualcomm.
  • Develop and promote standards with external partners.
  • Formulate, maintain, and execute Qualcomm’s strategy for semiconductor standards.
  • Work with attorneys to file patents protecting novel IP.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of ASIC design, verification, or related work experience.
  • Strong networking and influencing skills.
  • RISC-V ISA, processor architecture, microarchitecture, and standards knowledge and experience.
  • Experience with processor core and system compliance certification, modeling, and verification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
  • OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 1+ year of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
  • OR PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of semiconductor technologies.
  • Understanding of international semiconductor landscapes and strategic incentives of major players.
  • Semiconductor development experience, including architecture, design, implementation, verification, validation, manufacturing, silicon qualification, etc.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Design Automation (EDA).
  • Understanding of open-source licensing models and open-source development ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with Qualcomm semiconductor products and technologies is a plus.
  • Experience with or network of contacts in research and academic community is a plus.
  • Strong documentation, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • 1+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership.
  • 1+ years in a technical leadership role.
  • 1+ years of experience with semiconductor standards organizations and forums, such as RISC-V, RISE, OCP, CHIPS Alliance, JEDEC, UEFI, Accellera, Si2, SEMI, ISO, IEC, IEEE, INCITS, GSA, SIA, IMEC, SRC.
  • 2+ years CPU design, CPU modeling, or CPU test experience.
  • System firmware and kernel knowledge are highly desirable.
  • Legacy architecture knowledge is a plus.
  • Preferred: Doctorate's, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
