Emerson's Test & Measurement (T&M) Business Unit is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia, to lead the design and development of electronics packaging, ensuring products meet specifications and are manufacturable. The role involves performing analyses, supporting manufacturing, and providing technical guidance to a team. Candidates should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development, preferably with electronics hardware. Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, tolerance stack-up, materials, and manufacturing processes, along with excellent communication skills in English, are required.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of electronics packaging from concept to production.
Define the mechanical architecture and select materials, components, and hardware to meet product requirements.
Perform tolerance, thermal, and structural analyses to identify risks and ensure product reliability.
Plan and conduct mechanical testing, analyze results, and improve the design.
Develop specifications for mechanical materials and manufacturing processes.
Qualify and support suppliers to meet manufacturing and quality requirements.
Support manufacturing to resolve issues, improve yield, and maintain product quality.
Work with procurement and suppliers to ensure quality and on-time delivery of mechanical parts.
Provide technical guidance, mentor engineers, and improve mechanical design practices.

Requirements

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development, preferably with electronics hardware or industrial products.
Solid understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, tolerance stack-up, materials, and common manufacturing processes.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks.
Ability to collaborate well in a group environment and solve problems effectively.
Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing, in a global engineering environment.

Desired Qualifications

Experience using CAD and CAE tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, or similar platforms.
Hands‑on experience in thermal testing, designing metal and plastic components, and working with related manufacturing methods.
Exposure to high‑mix, low‑volume product development or sustaining engineering roles.
Experience in thermal analysis and structural simulation.
Experience supporting supplier qualification, material changes, or production support activities.
