Qualcomm is seeking a Senior Digital Design Engineer in San Diego, California, to independently manage high-speed digital design, baseband design, and signal integrity analysis. This role involves designing CPU-based circuit boards for consumer electronics and wireless devices, supporting complex tests, and collaborating across hardware engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plan and perform high-speed digital design, baseband design, and signal integrity analysis for in-house design verification and software/firmware development.
  • Design CPU-based circuit boards and cards for consumer electronics, wireless devices, and low power platforms.
  • Perform digital component level evaluation, optimization, unit level testing, and RF debug of platform hardware and wireless designs.
  • Support Design Engineers with the set-up and execution of complex tests and component evaluation related to base band designs.
  • Work across hardware engineering disciplines to define platform requirements, architecture, and design.
  • Document hardware platforms, schematics, and BOM, actively contributing to the evolution of shared platforms.
  • Work with the CAD team on PWB layout, lab-based design verification and integration.
  • Manage the transition of the design to small volume production and provide in-house technical support.
  • Act as a strong contributor at design reviews and project meetings.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related degree field.
  • Experience with high-speed digital design.
  • Experience with baseband design.
  • Experience with signal integrity analysis and simulation.
  • Experience with integration and test.
  • Experience with power management ICs.
  • Experience designing CPU-based circuit boards and cards.
  • Experience with digital component level evaluation.
  • Experience with unit level testing.
  • Experience with RF debug.
  • Experience working across hardware engineering disciplines.
  • Experience defining platform requirements and architecture.
  • Experience designing and documenting hardware platforms.
  • Experience with schematic and BOM capture.
  • Experience working with the CAD team on PWB layout.
  • Experience with lab-based design verification and integration.
  • Experience with transition of design to small volume production.
  • Experience providing in-house technical support.
  • Ability to contribute at design reviews and project meetings.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC).
  • Familiarity with Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA).
  • Familiarity with OFDM.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP.
