Google is seeking a Senior Data Center Engineer with Electrical Engineering expertise to design and manage mission-critical facilities. The role involves electrical infrastructure, project management, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on optimizing efficiency and ensuring compliance. This position is initially based in Hyderabad, with a future relocation to Andhra Pradesh.
Responsibilities
- Develop and articulate Electrical and Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design plans and long-term strategy in collaboration with partners, customers, and stakeholders.
- Initiate new programs based on identified needs and act as a catalyst for gaining support.
- Manage various programs of work, engage teams and engineers, and set the pace for development, deployment, and delivery of data center services and infrastructure.
- Develop electrical calculations, MEP calculations, product selection criteria, project documentation, quality check documents, code and compliance metrics, process maps, presentations, and tracking reports.
- Demonstrate knowledge of power substation design, implementation, and permitting processes.
- Utilize technical judgment for decision-making, driving project delivery, conducting technology reviews, challenging proposals, and building consensus.
- Analyze service performance and system performance data to generate recommendations and actionable plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in mission-critical facility design and construction environments.
- Experience in electrical infrastructure.
- Experience in managing data center infrastructure and fit-out projects, and managing partners and stakeholders.
- Experience with vendor management.
- Experience with the use and customization of project management tools.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in estimating, electrical design, operation, and commissioning of substations, switchgear, ATP/ATS, emergency power systems, and their control systems.
- Experience in power monitoring, and electrical protection.
- Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of high voltage substations, medium or low voltage electrical distribution systems, AC/DC systems, and associated power management or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) tools.
- Experience working with data center equipment and environments (e.g., switchgear, generators, transformers, controls, security monitoring systems, fire safety systems).
- Strong understanding of start-up/commissioning processes.
- Experience with medium voltage systems.
