PSCE is seeking a Material Flow Engineer to lead the introduction of new products and processes within in-plant logistics, optimizing material flow and layouts. The role involves defining business requirements, designing transport flows, and supporting cost reduction initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the optimal introduction of new products and product changes within in-plant logistics.
- Define business requirements related to IT systems used in in-plant logistics.
- Design the optimal transport flow between suppliers, logistic providers, and the plant.
- Ensure material flow and layouts are optimized to support lean strategy.
- Conceptualize logistic equipment, internal packaging, and tooling.
- Design off-line sequence, kitting, and material preparation cells.
- Lead the set-up of external warehouses and sequence centers interfacing with the plant.
- Design internal material flows from dock to point of use delivery.
- Develop work instructions according to QPS coaching standards.
- Lead problem-solving analysis and process optimization projects for in-plant logistics.
- Investigate process consequences related to production speed or volume changes.
- Support the plant in reaching Hours per Vehicle (HPV) targets.
- Perform M3MU kaizen studies to drive process improvements.
- Deploy VCMS (Volvo Cars Manufacturing System) principles.
- Maintain and optimize in-plant logistics processes based on QDFIPS (Quality, Safety, Financials, Improvement, People, Safety and Sustainability).
- Support the screening process of packaging for improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, logistics engineering, or relevant education, or equal qualifications.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in material flow engineering within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of systems and processes within material flow engineering.
- Ability to work independently within a given framework.
- Ability to work in an international environment.
- Ability to initiate and coordinate situations where problems occur.
- Strong ability to cooperate.
- Analytical and proactive mindset.
- Carries out all duties and responsibilities with the utmost integrity and the highest ethical standards.
- Flexible when faced with changing conditions.
- Strong customer focus and service mindset with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Proficient in MS Office and database applications.
- Highly skilled in excel and data analysis.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Able to create optimal layouts for the in-plant logistics flow.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
