This Product Safety Engineer role focuses on product safety and certification for appliances within the NA Regulatory & Compliance Group. Responsibilities include certifying products to NA safety standards, managing energy compliance, leading risk assessments, and analyzing customer complaints to maintain product safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Certify and list products to NA product safety standards and requirements.
- Manage energy certification and/or compliance to governmental agencies.
- Lead or assist the Product Safety Risk Assessment activities for NA products.
- Implement Safety standards and key learnings from litigation and customer complaints.
- Proactively research and resolve Product Safety, Compliance and Regulatory issues.
- Conduct online and internal data analysis from customer complaints, CPSC, Health Canada, Service/Warranty Claims.
- Attend Electrolux Project Management (EPM) meetings to ensure integration of Product Safety, Compliance and Regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the development of departmental policies and procedures.
- Coach associates in the development of technical and project skills.
- Perform other duties as required or necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s of Science Degree in engineering preferred, preferably Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or relevant technical degree and related experience.
- 5-year minimum appliance product design related experience preferred or equivalent through acquired technical knowledge.
- Strong ability to work effectively within time constraints, changing priorities, while working independently.
- Strong Continuous Improvement mindset.
- Skilled in technical writing.
- Experience in technical writing with a strong Continuous Improvement mindset.
- Experience and basic understanding of engineering, manufacturing, and assembly principles.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication skills for negotiating, presenting, and resolving complex and controversial issues and responding effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build rapport; establish and maintain good working relationships cross-functionally.
- Strong aptitude for details.
